90 Minutes...
Utilizing some of Kansas City's most respected and reputable musicians, from some of Kansas City's most successful bands (Corey Taylor & The Junk Beer Kidnap Band, Pomeroy, Mike Dillon's Go-Go Jungle, Baloney Ponyz, Goodnight Nobody, and more) 90 Minutes aims to musically kick you in the groin and take a few names on the way out.
90 Minutes has been together for over 3 years now, and has been the house band at Jerry's Bait shop in Lee's Summit, MO since the spring of 2008. 90 Minutes is a band that performs songs from 1990 through 1999. No 80's, and nothing after 1999... no exceptions.
The 90's decade began a trend in diversity and made several forms of underground music acceptable to the general public. In the year 1992 alone, Grunge and Rap music were making one of the strongest musical impacts the world had ever seen. Artists like Public Enemy, Nirvana, Ice Cube, and Pearl Jam were setting the stage for revolution all across the United States. Riots erupted in Los Angeles, The President and Vice President waged a personal war against a rap/rock artist named Ice-T for writing a song about killing cops, and Vanilla Ice was forshadowing and paving the way for terrible and amazing white rap artists to come in the future.
Milli Vanilli would win and lose a Grammy all in the same year and the birth of Rap/Rock once pioneered by bands like Aerosmith and Run D.M.C. and Anthrax and Public Enemy was taking form in the face of groups like Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, Rage Against The Machine and 311. Metallica would become a radio friendly band by putting out their most comercially accepted album to date while making heavy music an acceptable format to add to radio playlists everywhere.
Major faces in music would take over the world, and die violently from suicides (Kurt Cobain), drugs (Layne Stayley, Shannon Hoon, etc...), AIDS (Easy - E, Freddie Mercury, etc.), and West Coast vs. East Coast shootings (2Pac, Notorious B.I.G., more).
With all that said, dammit, isn't it time some of that kind of fun was put back into music again?
Granted while living through the 90's most of us felt like there wasn't really much good music going on then either, especially toward the end of the decade. But looking back through the catalog of radio hits, founder Tyson Leslie found some rare and valuable musical gems that you no longer hear on the airwaves of Clear Channel and Viacom radio.
Bands like Sister Hazel, Tonic, The Marvelous 3, The Toadies, Fastball and Collective Soul have been put in the bagain bins and sold for 1 cent on eBay to people who've long since forgotten about them when it comes to buying new music. Yet every time these artists roll through town on tour (since most of them are still together) people flock and sell out the clubs in which they appear proving that people still want to hear songs like "All For You", "Open Up Your Eyes", "Freak Of The Week", "Possum Kingdom", and "December" are songs people still definitely want to hear and are still willing to shell out about $25.00 to see and hear the songs that were the soundtrack of their high school years.
2Pac and Notorious B.I.G. albums as well as Nirvana albums continue to fly off the shelves as the younger generation discovers their legacies. Some bands are even reforming and touring together this year like Alice In Chains, or forming alliances like Rage Against The Machine and Soundgarden to form Audioslave. And full reuinions by Rage Against The Machine will be taking place this summer bringing the powerful music of the 90's back into this decade.
90 Minutes is a live salute to the music of the 90's. 90 Minutes plays the music you remember and love, forgot about and forgot you loved, and the ones you wish you could hear again on the radio but have long since been abandoned.
90 Minutes is THE band to see in Kanasas City (or any other city for that matter).
90 Minutes can currently be seen at Jerry's Bait Shop in Lee's Summit, MO every single Wednesday night at 9:30 performing until 1:00 a.m. They play 2 ninety minute sets with one break in the middle.
90 Minutes is also available for corporate events, weddings, etc...

Here's what 90 Minutes does, and has done for the last 3 1/2 years.
We come in, we play TWO LONG 90 minute sets (pun intended) - and we do it very very well. We go with the philosophy of more music, less breaks - therefore, less opportunity for your patrons to look at one another and say "let's go while they're on break to ___________."
Bottom line, less breaks = more drink sales = crowd for us to play a great show too!
We do 100% cover material playing only music from the 90's decade.
We have only and handful of dates open left for the remainder of 2010.
This includes a full production show with top quality sound/lighting+sound& light crew - and 2 solid 90 minute sets with one break in the middle.
for example - 9:30 to 11:00 - then back on from 11:30 to 1:00
We also hire great photographers to come in and shoot a show if we know it's going to be a great show to post on your website to promote your venue through your myspace/facebook and official web pages. Oftentimes we'll just split the cost with the bar, so that both parties have great pics to promote the shows!
You can reach me at 913-602-7506 I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Thanks for your interest in 90 Minutes, and I hope to talk with you soon!
